Notice to Importers of Fabricated Industrial Steel for use in Oil, Gas, or Mining September 15, 2016 The Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) has announced it will launch an investigation into unfair pricing practices related to fabricated industrial steel products being imported from China, Korea, Spain, United Arab Emirates, Northern Ireland, and the United Kingdom into Canada. The list of tariff classifications and products affected is extensive. Examples include: columns, pillars, post, beams, girders, angles, shapes, equipment for scaffolding, staircases, rods, fabricated building components, certain types of conveyor structures, and feeders. Some of the tariff classifications affected include, but are not limited to: Important Investigation Schedule Dates October 3, 2016 – Importer responses to CBSA’s Request for Information due October 19, 2016 – Exporter and Government responses to Request for Information due December 12, 2016 – Preliminary Determination or termination of investigation March 13, 2017 – Final Determination if Preliminary Determination was made Further details may be found in CBSA’s Notice of Initiation of Investigations.
